My Approach
I provide private and confidential initial consultations, evaluations, short-term and on-going counseling and psychotherapy services to adolescents and teens ages 12 and up, adults and older adults. Working in a professional yet casual office setting, we can work collaboratively to create a safe and supportive working relationship. This will allow us to identify problem areas and obstacles and from there define practical steps to achieve your goals. It's so important to have a treatment plan you feel positive and excited about, no matter what difficulties you are facing. Injecting humor during these difficult times often helps too! I am an active therapist, which is especially important when working with teens and adults to promote trust and improve overall motivation and confidence in skill building.
I use an eclectic approach - tailoring the approach to best fit your needs and presenting symptoms. The foundation to my approach to counseling relies heavily on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as CBT and DBT have both been proven effective in the treatment of mood and anxiety related disorders. I often combine traditional talk therapy with psychoeducation and coping skills training to help you feel more empowered and hopeful.
